Grace talked about how she came up with the idea for her album!

Grace VanderWaal, who is only 13 years old, is doing quite well for herself.

The former American Idol winner recently released her debut album, Just The Beginning, and is embarking on a mini tour across the country to promote it.

Grace talked to Time about how she wrote her record and how much power she had in the studio.

"I am certain of my abilities. She explained, "Especially since I'm a woman, and especially because I'm so young." "People are extra friendly and open to all of your ideas because they don't want to be labeled as the mean producer or whatever."

Grace also gave some sound advise to anyone attempting to break into the music industry right now, and it's advice that can be applied to any situation.

"Simply be yourself." I've met a lot of individuals, and I've seen a lot of them online, who are just trying to be a pop star. And, to be honest, they'd be a lot more successful if they just were themselves, because people can sense it.
