Darci Lynne Farmer

Darci Lynne Farmer is an American ventriloquist who was born on October 12, 2004. She is the champion of the NBC competition show America's Got Talent's 12th season.

Following Bianca Ryan in season one and Grace VanderWaal in season eleven, Farmer became the third female kid act to win America's Got Talent. She is the third ventriloquist to win the competition, after Terry Fator in season two and Paul Zerdin in season ten. Farmer joins Terry Fator and Paul Zerdin as the third ventriloquist to win NBC's reality show. Following Grace VanderWaal, she is the second pre-teen girl to win "America's Got Talent." Auditions for next year's cycle are already taking place, so hurry if you think you have what it takes to be the next Darci Lynne Farmer. The 12-year-remarkable old's pipes wowed the judges, and she'll be starring in her own Las Vegas show as well as winning $1 million.

'It's just been so much fun, and it doesn't matter who wins now,' she added before the winner was announced.

After a fantastic final performance, she defeated the competition and appeared to have claimed the victory.

She was accompanied on stage by puppets Oscar and Petunia in the first part of the final, which broadcast in the United States on Tuesday night.

Early life

She is a resident of Oklahoma City. On October 12, 2004, she was born. Farmer loved to sing as a child, but she was shy and terrified of performing in front of an audience. Her parents pushed her to overcome her shyness by enrolling her in the International Cinderella Scholarship Program, where she won the title of International Mini Miss. She also met Laryssa Bonacquisti, the International Teen titleholder, a teenage ventriloquist who motivated the bashful Farmer to attempt ventriloquism herself. She is self-taught and would practice her ABCs with her lips pressed together. She then requested a puppet from her parents, Clarke and Misty Farmer, claiming that it would help her overcome her shyness. Her parents gave her a puppet as a gift for her tenth birthday. Terry Fator, a former champion of America's Got Talent, is Farmer's idol. Because ventriloquism is not widely practiced, the formerly shy Farmer made a personal commitment to ensure that the art of ventriloquism was preserved.

She earned first prize in Edmond's Got Talent in 2014 after a month of preparation based on Bonacquisti's advice. She's been working with Gary Owen, a ventriloquy coach, and Tiana Plemons, a voice teacher, since then. She took first place in both the junior and senior divisions of Oklahoma's Got Talent and Oklahoma Kids in 2015. Farmer made an appearance on Little Big Shots (US) in March 2016, and in July 2016, she became the first child ventriloquist to perform on an evening show in the 40-year history of the Vent Haven International Ventriloquists' ConVENTion, where she acted as a front-row performer for celebrity ventriloquists Kevin Johnson and Todd Oliver. After that, in March of 2017, She had an appearance on the UK version of Little Big Shots.

2017: America's Got Talent

In 2017, Farmer appeared on America's Got Talent's twelfth season. Farmer and her puppet, a girly rabbit named Petunia, sang George Gershwin's "Summertime" on the inaugural episode, which aired on May 30. Petunia cut Farmer off in the comedy–singing act so Petunia could continue singing instead. Judge Mel B applauded the performance and pressed her Golden Buzzer, allowing Farmer to skip the judge's rounds and go to the quarterfinals. This performance's video was eventually ranked No. 4 on YouTube's Top Viral YouTube Videos of 2017.

Farmer serenaded Mel B with her bashful, stuttering Motown mouse puppet, Oscar, performing Smokey Robinson's "Who's Lovin' You" for her first live performance after her Golden Buzzer performance. Farmer received a standing ovation from judges Howie Mandel, Mel B, Heidi Klum, and Simon Cowell. Farmer got enough audience votes for this performance to advance to the semifinals, where she performed Aretha Franklin's "(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman" with her puppet Edna Doorknocker and stood next to the judges' table so Edna could flirt with Simon Cowell. Farmer received another standing ovation from all four judges. Farmer was elected into the finals by the viewers.

Farmer performed The Beatles' "With a Little Help from My Friends" in her final competition appearance, with Petunia and Oscar engaging for hilarious effect. She received standing ovations and high acclaim from the judges, and Cowell predicted, "I think you're going to win." Farmer realized her dream in episode 22 when she sang "Anything You Can Do" from Annie Get Your Gun with her idol and tutor Terry Fator, portraying Petunia and Fator portraying Winston the Impersonating Turtle. She recovered after tripping over the first line of the song, and the act continued. The field was narrowed down to the top five, and then to Farmer and Angelica Hale, the top two finalists. Tyra Banks, the show's host, then proclaimed Farmer as the season's winner, having gotten the most votes out of the 52 million cast. Farmer won $1 million and a headline event at Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas, which was originally scheduled for November 3 and 4, but two additional gigs were added on November 2 and 5 when the first two sold out. Angelica Hale, Preacher Lawson, and Light Balance were also included in the Las Vegas concerts.
