Jessie Chatham, a 14-year-old Austin resident, said she would still enjoy her day at the Austin City Limits Music Festival if she didn't get a pair of T-shirts autographed by teen pop sensation Grace VanderWaal, but it would be a great bonus.

She didn't know what her odds were from her location in line approximately 60 yards back from the Waterloo Records signing tent.

"I already saw her perform today," Chatham said, adding that she traveled to the festival with her mother, Leslie, on Saturday particularly to witness the "America's Got Talent" winner do an early afternoon set on the HomeAway stage. "If I meet her, I have no idea what I'll say." She says, "I just believe her songs are incredibly honest."

Many of the thousands who saw VanderWaal perform migrated into the quickly growing line for a chance to say "hello" and have merchandise autographed, according to organizers at the autograph tent. The hour-long performance by VanderWaal was projected to gather the greatest crowd of the day, with many of the thousands who had come to see her play moving into the rapidly increasing line for her autograph.

While VanderWaal's followers waited in line, Missio, an Austin electropop duo, were enjoying their time with a stream of fans who came to say hello and sign records, shirts, and other items.

Taking part in autograph and meet-and-greet events, according to instrumentalist and backing vocalist David Butler, allows the duo to hear how their music has touched listeners.

"We're saying here's what we deal with in our own lives," he continued, "and there are a lot of dismal things in our music." "A lot of the fans come to talk about how the music has affected them and the issues they're dealing with, and maybe we can help them stay on track with their sobriety or anything like that."

Matthew Brue, the band's lead singer, said he's looking forward to shaking hands and putting a human face to followers he's met through social media.

"It's amazing to put a face to a Twitter account and see friendships blossom from short encounters like that," he remarked. "There used to be a line where the artist was untouchable in the world we lived in." These days, nothing is off-limits, and your entire life is on display. It's great that we can listen to music that we both enjoy." Tonight, Tash Sultana, Glass Animals, and the Red Hot Chili Peppers will all be playing together."
