The 'Rising Star' award will be presented at Billboard's annual Women in Music banquet and awards ceremony.
The Los Angeles event next to the Ray Dolby Ballroom on Nov. 30 will feature R&B icon Mary J. Blige and VanderWaal, who made a choice in favor of herself as a winner on America's Got Talent.
Every day, next to the Women in Music awards ceremony and Billboard's Women in Music spring, the industry's most powerful musicians and executives are ecstatic.
Selena Gomez has been awarded the 2017 Woman of the Year by Billboard. Kelly Clarkson, Camila Cabello, and Kehlani are also deserving of recognition. Clarkson, Cabello, Kehlani, and VanderWaal are among the performers at this year's Women in Music event.
"The Billboard Women in Music event was created to highlight female trailblazers in the songwriting industry," explains Dana Miller of The Hollywood Reporter – Billboard Media Group. "Whether entertaining sold-out crowds or signing the then-highly regarded actor, the women we honor are strong leaders and trailblazers who leave inspirational legacies and open doors."
On Nov. 30, from 6 to 9 p.m. PT / 9 p.m. to 12 a.m. ET, the Women in Music red carpet pre-show and awards ceremony will be broadcast live on Twitter.
