Grace VanderWaal, a 13-year-old Rockland resident and rising pop star, performed at Irving Plaza in New York City earlier this month, and Time magazine was on hand to capture the moment.

The show, the audience' joyful reactions, and what VanderWaal does after a show are all covered in depth in a recent piece on Time's website.

According to the article, she grabs a slice of pizza, throws on an over-sized sweater, listens to some (very specific) music, and prays.

Frankie, her pug, is mentioned multiple times.

"But it's only now that she's starting to take the act on the road," author Raisa Bruner writes, "while continuing to attend school as a more or less typical eighth grader at her home in Suffern, New York." "On the other hand, most ordinary teenagers don't have more than two million Instagram followers." "Most ordinary teenagers aren't hailed as the 'next Taylor Swift.'"

When asked about the comparison to Swift, VanderWaal delivers a normal 13-year-old response. She may have won "America's Got Talent," a Teen Choice award, and is in the hunt for a Grammy, but she gives a typical 13-year-old response.

She said, "It's anything."
